About me and this blog

As far back as I can remember, books have been a constant in my life. They opened up a world for me that was limitless in my imagination—for an only child, that’s priceless.
As an English major in college, I found myself reading less and less for pleasure. I was given the opportunity of reading great works in my classes, but I could never really savor the books I read because of how critically I had to think of them. By the time summer rolled around, all I wanted to do was numb my brain. My love of books never waned, but I rarely read.
It’s going to be almost two years since I’ve graduated. I’m in the first year of my Masters in Cinema Studies program and I find myself thirsty for literature. Lately I’ve been searching for every possible book I could read. I used to be such a classics snob when it came to literature, but now I’ve found that I’m opening up more and more to contemporary authors like Jonathan Safran Foer (whom I love!) and Ian McEwan (Atonement was definitely my favorite read last year). I’ve even signed up on Goodreads and am now attempting to keep track of my progress as well as the books I want to read.
I hope this journey in rediscovering a long lost love proves to be fruitful. If not, at least I’ll get some good books out of it.
